10 years ago we started the heaviest fish in August Competition on board the Skylark from Scarborough
We haven't run the competition since 2017 and we've decided to bring it back next month in memory of a good friend - Ben Mennell who previously won the competition in 2016.
Nick Gough, Skylark Skipper said Sadly Ben passed away early 2025.
Many of you might have known a good friend of mine who used to fish and help us out on trips, maintenance and in the warehouse.
I fished many competitions with Ben shore and boat and he was a really competitive angler and this is why this years heaviest fish competition is in memory of him.

To win a £60 Fishing Trips Voucher.
All customers booked with us during August 2025 are eligible and this is free to enter.
And the heaviest fish caught on the Skylark will be weighed as soon as possible and verified by the skipper
Previous Winners of the Competition
In 2017 the Prize was won by Noah age 10 with a 18lb 4oz Ling caught on this afternoons 3 hour wrecking trip.
In 2016 the Prize was won by Ben Mennell with a 15lb 8oz cod during a 6 hour trip.
In 2015 the prize was won by Steve Binnington with a 18lb 1oz Ling which he managed to get his photo placed in the Sea Angler Magazine and get a ling award for. Steve managed to catch the fish during a 5 hour Wrecking Trip
Over the three years running the competition we have seen many fish close to the entries so hopefully this year is the same too
So to be in a chance all you have to do is get booked on with us this August and you never know you could be taking home a £60 voucher at the end of the month.
(Skipper / deckhand is not eligible in the competition)
