26.08.25 Catch Report

ree

Fishing today started with a 8hr trip after a week of not getting out due to north easterly swell and rough seas.

Unfortunately the inshore grounds have coloured up massively.

So we planned to start up-tideing and down-tiding again with the biggish tides.

We had a good mix of frozen bait aboard from squid, worm, razor, prawns, mackerel, and crab.

Best baits seamed to be the squid and mackerel strips which is common this time of year. Not many bites on the crab and razor baits today.

Overall the customers managed a few fish each but majority of the catch was pouting and dogfish.

We did get a cod around 4lb, a ballen wrasse and a few whiting.

Overall was quite a slow steady trip.

At midday while travelling to the next mark we had 4 bottle nose dolphins passing by turned around and gave us another pass at speed then carried on heading north.

3 hour trip

Was all new anglers for thier first ever boat fishing trip some of the anglers have fished rivers, the shore and ponds.

Strait away they were into fish from dropping the anchor getting some good plump pouting. Then one rod got smashed over with a nice Pollock.

Fishing was short lived and we only saw pouting from then on.

With the water colouring up we didn't see a single mackerel today. hopefully inshore might get a chance to clear back up again and they could still return.

If not this might of been the last of them for the year unfortunately.
